The Power Of Vulnerability

One day, a priest friend told me, “In my homiletics class, we were taught that when we give our homilies, we shouldn’t talk about our personal life. We should just stick to the Gospel. And for the first few years of my priesthood, that’s what I did.

But I felt there was a disconnect to my parishioners. But when I opened my heart and shared stories from my life, I felt we became a spiritual family.”

Why? Because vulnerability is powerful.

I’ve been preaching for 40 years. That’s a lot of talks. If you ask me, “What was the most powerful talk you’ve ever given in your lifetime?” I would have to say, “When I shared the log in my eye.” When I shared my weaknesses, warts, and wounds.

Today, you’ll learn the power of vulnerability and humility when you call others to repentance. Have an amazing Feast!

May your dreams come true,

Bo Sanchez
