These are some statistics about the situation of marriage in the Philippines.

Though the data are based on 2010 figures, the figures can give us an idea of the seriousness of the state of family and the problems it has brought and can create.

  1. The number of annulment cases has risen from 5,773 in 2005 to 11, 135 in 2014, a 92% increase in the last decade.

  2. There are 37 annulment cases filed everyday.

  3. Of those who filled annulment - 61% were women with 90% of them in their 20's; 25% of the men were in their 30's or 40's.

We know that the basic unit of any society is the family.

It is in the family where we teach our children good manners and right conduct, where we inculcate in them Christian values, and where we raise them up to be men and women of Christ.

Whatever happens in the family, will have a big impact on the bigger society. Juvenile delinquents, teen-age pregnancy, drug addiction, crimes and violence and even childhood suicides are caused mostly because of dysfunctional families.

The situation is not hopeless.

We can still do something about it

How?

In our own families, we can create a loving atmosphere where Jesus reigns and His teachings are our guide.

Be FULLY ALIVE,

Bro. Vic
