I Do

Nope! I’m not going to talk about a wedding. Though I’d wish to be able to say such a statement on my own, the essence of saying so, are what I will talk about as we look into our Talk for today: Selflessness is the Best Way to Love Yourself.

As Christians and Disciples, we are all called by the Lord to Love. However, Love has been used in so many ways, interpreted in various frameworks and practiced on different levels. Sometimes, we therefore get confused and lose track of the basic and fundamental commandment of the Lord.

The Lord said in Matthew 7:12, “Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and in prophets.” This is what we mean by Love. It is a “DO”. Yes, it may have aspect of a “Think” and a “Feel”, but essentially, it is a “Do”. Love is something you “do” and not just feel or explain or experience. Sometimes, even if you don't feel like it, you don’t see any logic in it, you just decide to do it! No wonder when couples decide to get married, the answer to the question is an “I do.”

As we Love others, however, we also are asked now to Love ourselves too. If we do good to others, we do it as we we do good to ourselves too. Self love therefore is important. It isn’t a human idea, it actually comes from God! Loving oneself is truly healthy and leads to loving others too.

Friend, are you ready to Love? Then are you ready to “do good”? Both to others and to yourself? Let Talk 17 of our series Best Preaching Ever give you the insight and the power to do exactly that. Allow the Spirit to enlighten and guide you as we all are invited to practice the “Golden Rule.”

So, will you say, “I do”?

Be enormously blessed today!

May your Miracles Happen,

Bro J
