This Is a Coup!

Admit it. Much of our prayers are Me-Focused.
And that’s fine. We all start that way, like babies who see the world as
a solar system where they are the sun and everyone else—their Mommy
and Daddy and Yaya and Kuya and Ate—and even God Himself—are planets
that revolve around him and his needs. He needs milk? Cry. His butt is itchy?
Cry. He’s bored? Cry. One of his slaves will come to his rescue.
But if you look at the prayer, Our Father, it’s not Me-Focused, but
God-Focused and Other-Focused. Because this is the prayer of a Revolution.
This is a coup! We’re kicking out the old king and installing a new one.
When we pray the Our Father, we’re dethroning ourselves as king of our
lives, and we’re enthroning Jesus as our new King. And line by line, you’ll
see how revolutionary this prayer is.
Have a revolutionary Feast today!
May your dreams come true,
Bo Sanchez

“Pray like this:
Our Father in heaven,
may your name be kept holy.
10 May your Kingdom come soon.
May your will be done on earth,

11 Give us today the food we need,
12 and forgive us our sins,
as we have forgiven those who sin against us.
13 And don’t let us yield to temptation,
but rescue us from the evil one.
14 “If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive
you. 15 But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your
sins.
